Playdough Landscapes

Playdough Landscapes is a free, NQF-aligned Sensory & Messy Play activity for ages 5 to 10. It includes a learning intention, a materials list, step-by-step instructions and framework links.

Learning intention

This experience supports children to use imagination and to develop a connection with the natural world.

You'll need

• Playdough
• Natural materials (leaves, sticks, rocks)
• A tray or board as a base

How to do it

1. Children spread playdough across the base to form hills and ground.
2. They press in leaves, sticks and rocks to add trees, paths and features.
3. Encourage children to tell the story of the place they've made.
4. Combine groups' boards into one large shared landscape.
