Foam Animals

Foam Animals is a free, NQF-aligned Sensory & Messy Play activity for ages 5 to 10. It includes a learning intention, a materials list, step-by-step instructions and framework links.

Learning intention

This experience supports children to use imagination to create and to reuse materials with respect for the environment.

You'll need

• Recycled foam pieces
• Cardboard
• Markers
• PVA glue

How to do it

1. Children pick a favourite animal and draw its outline on cardboard.
2. They tear or cut foam into pieces to fill the shape.
3. Glue the foam on to add texture, fur or scales.
4. Talk about the animals' habitats while they work.
