Fuse Bead Designs is a free, NQF-aligned Art & Craft activity for ages 6 to 12. It includes a learning intention, a materials list, step-by-step instructions and framework links.

Learning intention

This experience supports children to develop persistence and concentration while creating their own design.

You'll need

  • Fuse beads
  • Pegboards
  • Printed example templates
  • Ironing done only by an educator with backing paper

How to do it

  1. Set out a range of bead colours and a few printed templates for inspiration.
  2. Children place beads onto the pegboard following a template or their own design.
  3. Once finished, an educator carefully irons the design through backing paper to fuse the beads.
  4. Children thread finished pieces as keyrings or display them.
