Classic Slime is a free, NQF-aligned Sensory & Messy Play activity for ages 6 to 12. It includes a learning intention, a materials list, step-by-step instructions and framework links.

Learning intention

This experience supports children to experiment with materials by following a method and observing how a mixture changes.

You'll need

  • ½ cup PVA glue
  • ½ cup water
  • Food colouring
  • 1 tbsp saline solution
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • A bowl and spoon

How to do it

  1. Mix the glue and water together in a bowl.
  2. Add a few drops of food colouring and the baking soda, and stir.
  3. Slowly add the saline solution, stirring as the mixture begins to thicken.
  4. Knead with hands until it pulls away from the bowl and turns stretchy.
