Design Your Own Team Jersey is a free, NQF-aligned Sport & Active Games activity for ages 6 to 12. It includes a learning intention, a materials list, step-by-step instructions and framework links.

Learning intention

This experience supports children to develop a confident self-identity and to express imagination through design.

You'll need

  • Jersey template printouts
  • Coloured pencils and textas
  • Optional fabric markers and plain shirts

How to do it

  1. Talk with children about teams and colours they like.
  2. Children design their own jersey on the template, choosing a name, number and pattern.
  3. Discuss why teams use particular colours and symbols.
  4. Finished designs can decorate the active-play noticeboard.
