Textured Playdough

Textured Playdough is a free, NQF-aligned Sensory & Messy Play activity for ages 4 to 10. It includes a learning intention, a materials list, step-by-step instructions and framework links.

Learning intention

This experience supports children to explore the senses and to describe how added materials change the way things feel.

You'll need

• 2 cups plain flour
• 1 cup salt
• 1 tbsp oil
• 1 cup cold water
• Food colouring
• Sequins or confetti for texture

How to do it

1. Combine the flour and salt.
2. Add the water, oil and colouring, and mix to a dough.
3. Knead in the sequins or confetti for a sparkly, textured feel.
4. Talk about how the added pieces change the way the dough feels.
