Nature Self-Portraits

Nature Self-Portraits is a free, NQF-aligned Free & Outdoor / Nature Play activity for ages 5 to 10. It includes a learning intention, a materials list, step-by-step instructions and framework links.

Learning intention

This experience supports children to develop a confident self-identity and to build a connection with the natural environment.

You'll need

• Paper
• Glue
• Pens
• Natural materials gathered outside

How to do it

1. Children collect sticks, leaves, grass and flowers from the yard.
2. Back at the table, they arrange the materials to form a portrait of themselves.
3. Glue the natural pieces down and add details with pens.
4. Talk about the different textures and colours found in nature.
